Now that you’ve registered, here’s what you can expect…
How do I get invited to paid projects?
- Supply and Demand – Project availability is dependent on this as well as the information in your profile. If your profile does not match current customer demand, you may need to wait patiently for future projects. Additionally, only invited testers are able to view and participate in relevant test cycles
- Sandbox Program – Invitations to this program are automatic and based on current project demand. After you participate in the Sandbox Program, and assuming you do well, you should be receiving project invitations within four weeks of your initial participation date. Project invitations start out slow, but increase as your tester rating continues to improve over time
- Update Your Profile - A tester with a complete and accurately populated profile has a higher chance of receiving projects.
- Register for a uTest forum account – The uTest forum is a great place to hear about upcoming opportunities of all types of testing. To participate in the uTest Forums, you will first need to register for a free account using the same email address associated with your uTest account.
How do I get paid?
- You are paid for approved bugs, test cases, surveys, or any other deliverable that the test cycle entails. Some test cycles also have Most Valuable Tester awards, which typically pay $150 and $100 to the top two testers
- Every test cycle differs in payouts, and you will likely begin with lower paying test cycles and work your way up to higher paying ones as you progress in your tester rating. Bug payouts also include an Additional Payout component that is based on the customer's value assessment. Additionally, Gold/Silver/Bronze testers are paid at a higher rate per deliverable
- You have a choice of using PayPal or Payoneer to receive payments for your uTest earnings (paid twice per month; typically the 1st and 15th of the month). If you prefer to use PayPal, make sure that it is fully supported in your country first
How do I ramp up to become a Gold uTester?
- Many Gold uTesters earn between $1,000 and $10,000 per month. However, they all started on a slow and steady ramp, before receiving more and higher-paying projects
- Focus on quality over quantity. Read through the New uTester Checklist before participating in your first test cycle, and consistently improve your performance through successive test cycles. Additionally, you must abide by the uTester Code of Conduct in all circumstances.
- Continue learning and contributing: engage in active discussions on the uTest Forums, write or read up on new Crash Courses, and read through various “how to” articles in our Help Topics
If you have questions about ramping up, don’t hesitate to ask your questions on the uTest Forums – there are members of the uTest Team and Forums Moderation Team available at all hours of the day!
