Updating and maintaining your profile

In order for uTest to match you with incoming projects, you will need to keep you your profile complete and up-to-date. For example, if a project requires testers living in Canada with BlackBerry devices and your profile matches these requirements; we will then be able to notify you of an upcoming test cycle. Be sure to update your profile as you pick up new gadgets (mobile devices, laptops, etc.) and update your software. Many customers are especially interested in testers with the latest devices for testing purposes. Removing outdated items you no longer own is also very important.

To update your profile, visit the uTest homepage; click "Sign In" and enter your email address and password. Next, click on "Account & Settings" and navigate to the category/section to make necessary updates to your profile. Be sure to click on "Save" in each tab in order to commit to any changes.

Your profile will display less than 100% complete if you did not add a profile picture or fill out areas such as “Personal Information” or “Experience and Skills.” If you wish to upload a profile picture, please click on "Account & Settings" and then "Personal Information." Click "Edit" and then "Browse" to upload a picture; click "Save." If you do not wish to upload one, don't worry - you will still be able to participate in uTest projects. The other 2 areas mentioned above however will improve your matching criteria with more testing opportunities, so it is recommended that they are filled out.

If you have not indicated a specific testing area that you are interested in, and/or you have not filled out at least 90% of your profile, a module in the upper right hand corner of your account’s homepage will prompt you to update your profile. After reaching at least 90% completeness in your profile, that same module will switch over to show an overview of where you rank in the community. (a minimum of ~90% profile completeness is recommended for all active testers)

    • Personal Info (city, phone, birth year, gender) entered: 2%
    • Avatar Photo uploaded: 3%
    • "About Me" completed: 5%
    • At least one computer entered:10%

    • At least one experience & skill selected:10%
    • At least one testing type selected: 3%
    • At least one of application type selected: 2%
    • Testing expertise completed (if you check off functional on the Project Preferences page, you need to rate at least one functional testing activity on the Testing Expertise page): 25%
  • Do I need to enter my real name in my profile? Yes. For financial reasons and liabilities, all testers are required to provide us with their real name in order to participate. Do not enter aliases like "Tester Tester" or "Bug Huntress."
  • How do I change my account password?
    Visit the uTest homepage. Click "Sign In" to log in to the platform with your current email address and password. Next, click on "Account & Settings" and go to the first tab. You will find the option to enter your new password.
  • How do I change my account email address? Visit the uTest homepage. Click "Sign In" and enter your current email address and password. Next, click on "Account & Settings" located in the upper right corner. On the first tab, "Account Information," click "Edit" to enter your new email address in the "Email" and "Confirm Email" fields. After clicking on the "Save" link, you will receive a system generated email with a link to confirm your new email address - please click on the email link to complete the email address change. If you do not receive the system generated email within one hour, please send an email to testers@utest.com.
