What is a Test Team Lead (TTL)?

A Test Team Lead (TTL) is a uTester (who has been selected and trained - more information below) who works very closely with a uTest Project Manager at the test cycle level. The TTL has the ability to triage reports and make recommendations to the customer and project manager. Every TTL opportunity is paid, with varying responsibilities that help to ensure success of each project.

The TTL Program is exclusive to select members of the uTest community. Invitations are typically sent once a month from the Community Management (CM) Team, and those who accept are subsequently trained on the responsibilities of a TTL. Our Test Team Leads each go through several rounds of consideration, as highlighted below:

  • Hand-selected by the CM Team based on many factors, including both hard skills (i.e. quality of participation) and soft skills (i.e. ability to communicate effectively with both customers and tester)
  • Invited testers are put through our Sandbox Team Lead program first, where they are evaluated based on their performance in vetting and training newbies
  • Select Test Team Leads are then provided with opportunities on live uTest projects, where they work in parallel with project managers to ensure the success of each test cycle
