uMentor Program

What is it?
The uMentor program is designed to foster collaborative learning within the uTest community by identifying experts in our community, called uMentors, and giving them a chance to answer your questions and teach you about topics that you are interested in. This program will help new testers get ramped up and learn the skills they need to become gold testers, as well as help seasoned testers learn new skills and expand upon their testing knowledge.

How does it work?
Every week we will kick off a new topic. A uMentor will post a topic, answering one of your questions, and then you will be able to respond and ask follow up questions for two weeks. The topic will lock after two weeks, but will remain available for you as a resource. In addition to forum posts, we will also host a monthly webinar. Once a month, one of our uMentors will give a presentation on one of the chosen topics, and you will be able to join in and ask questions in real time.

How do I submit a topic or question?
To submit a topic or question you would like answered by a uMentor please email your idea to umentor@utest.com and be sure to put ‘topic submission’ into the subject line.

Only submit one topic per email and do not send follow up emails regarding your topic. Each topic will be reviewed and submitted to the uMentors. If your topic/question is selected it will be slotted into the schedule. We will not contact you to let you know if your topic has been selected, so please keep updated on selected topics by viewing the upcoming schedule.

How do I become a uMentor?
If you are interested in becoming a uMentor please email umentor@utest.com and put ‘uMentor Application’ into the subject line.

In the email please explain what area of software testing you are an expert in. Give us a brief description of your experience and include a link to your LinkedIn profile. Also be sure to attach your CV.

uMentor applications without an attached CV will not be considered!

If you are selected to be a uMentor a member of the community management team will contact you.

How do I participate on the uMentor forum?
Only uMentors are able to create new topic posts. You will be able to reply to topics if you have follow up questions to the subject the uMentor posted.

Topics will be posted weekly, and each topic will be open to discussion and follow up questions for two weeks. As that point we will lock the topic. It will remain available to you as a resource. Depending on the nature of the topic, some may become crash courses or monthly webinars. Please refer to the schedule for upcoming webinars.

Please only ask questions about the specific topic posted. Replies that stray off topic will be REMOVED or edited.
If a topic spurs additional ideas for topics or questions please feel free to submit them to us by emailing umentor@utest.com and follow the procedures for submitting a topic listed above.
