Usability Testing

Usability or UX testing measures how user-friendly a product is by collecting feedback from real users. At uTest, usability test cycles can be identified by the “Ux” icon.

Due to its nature, usability test cycles require testers with specific requirements. If invited to a usability cycle, first read the cycle overview carefully and make sure you meet all the requirements. If eligible, accept the cycle by claiming a matching slot; otherwise, decline the cycle.

Depending on the test cycle and the slot, you may be asked to complete a survey and/or record a video while following specific steps on the test site or app. For example, you may be asked to checkout a brand new website our customer is planning to launch and provide your feedback on what you liked, disliked or what you think should be improved. You get to check out a website before everyone else, influence the design process with your feedback and get paid while doing so – isn’t that awesome?!

Always follow the instructions closely and provide your honest feedback and opinion on the experience. Avoid one-line responses, poor language or answers not related to the questions asked. Remember, in usability testing we are not testing you, we are testing the product, so whatever you say or think is right.

Important: We have a dedicated uTest Academy course on Usability testing. Check it out here to learn how to participate in these cycles, do great, and which mistakes to avoid.
